The Music Edge
Listening to the first two cuts of Ecdysis I can't help but wonder how much of it is simply the result of the environment (current events, news, tragedies, past and present, hope, whatever) that surrounds its creator, and how much of it is the conscious sonic offspring of Brian Daniloski, the man behind the moniker Darsombra. Initially, it's all calmed and warm experimentalism as, for the first two tracks, sonic shades slowly creep up and lay a blanket of sound. But good things come to those who wait and as the doom-laden down trodden pace of the third track "My House" enters, we are treated to the Eastern sounds of a sitar and a pounding Godflesh-like drum bashing. The song resonates for over six minutes and it is not over before the lush sounds and recited orations of "Drag the Carcass" take over the proceedings.
