UNRESTRAINED!

Imagine being trapped in a glass jar, nowhere to go, and a sonic flurry of CNN coverage, drone effects, screams and mesmerzing guitar riffs prod and poke you continually, never letting you rest or collect your emotions. This is the music of darsombra, a unique project led by Brian Daniloski that delves into six songs on Ecdysis with as much gusto as a chef at a wedding. No wall left unrattled, no ear-piercing screech left out-the drone is in full effect. And the atmosphere is indeed smothering at times. Rarely do I get that feeling with music I hear, but this time on Ecdysis I felt it. Uneasiness indeed. This is an interesting listen, but I'm not sure how many people would be willing to put up with this album start to finish. Hey, you never know.
